The SmartNudge Commitment
SmartNudge was built on the principle of Zero-Input Intelligence. We believe that managing your social health shouldn't cost you your privacy. Our app is designed to process interaction metadata locally on your hardware. We do not sell, trade, or upload your personal communication patterns.
1. Information We Collect
To provide the "Social Rhythm" features, SmartNudge requests access to specific interaction metadata. We distinguish between Metadata (the 'when' and 'how') and Content (the 'what').
A. Call Log & Interaction Metadata
When granted permission, SmartNudge accesses your device's Call Logs and Notification metadata to:
- Detect successful incoming and outgoing calls.
- Identify timestamps and durations of interactions.
- Detect successful message exchanges via supported platforms (e.g., WhatsApp).
Crucial Point: We only track the fact that a connection occurred to update your "Social Health" status. We never record audio, read the text of messages, or access communication content.
B. Contact Information
We access your Contacts to allow you to select "Kin" (contacts you wish to track). This includes:
- Contact Names and Profile Photos (for the dashboard).
- Phone numbers (to match call log events).
2. How We Use Information
The collected data is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Social Vitality Calculation: Calculating the time elapsed since your last meaningful interaction with a contact.
- Golden Window Prediction: Analyzing your general availability patterns to suggest the best times for a "Nudge."
- Local Dashboarding: Rendering your personal relationship graph and history.
3. Data Storage & Security
On-Device Processing
SmartNudge utilizes a Local-First architecture. Your relationship database is stored on your device using SQLCipher (military-grade local encryption).
Because we do not use central servers for your relationship data, your information is protected by your device's own hardware security (biometrics, encryption, passcode).
4. Sensitive Permissions
To function as a Personal CRM, the app requires sensitive Android permissions. Here is why:
- READ_CALL_LOG: Required to automatically detect when you've spoken to a contact so your "Social Rhythm" stays accurate without manual logging.
- READ_CONTACTS: Required to let you pick which friends and family members you want to prioritize in the app.
- NOTIFICATION_LISTENER: Used to detect incoming WhatsApp/Messaging events to count them as successful "pulses" in your social health.
5. Third-Party Sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties.
Since your interaction data stays on your device, it is technically impossible for us to sell it to advertisers or share it with data brokers.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data lives on your device. You have full control:
- In-App Deletion: You can remove specific contacts or clear your entire social history within the Settings menu.
- App Uninstallation: Uninstalling the app permanently deletes the local SQLCipher database and all associated metadata records.
7. Compliance (GDPR / CCPA / Google Play)
SmartNudge is designed to exceed global privacy standards. Because we do not collect data on our servers, we are "Privacy by Design" compliant.
